Our Story

How we look at a deck job

We build new decks and repair old ones for homeowners around San Bernardino, and most of what we know came from crawling under decks other people built and figuring out why they failed. That's what pulled us into this trade in the first place, wanting to build the kind that don't.

If you're on this page, you're probably staring at a deck with a soft spot, a rail that wiggles, or boards that have gone gray and splintery. We check the framing before we touch the surface, because a new coat of stain over a rotted joist just hides the problem for a season. Whatever we replace goes back in with lumber and fasteners rated for ground contact and San Bernardino's dry heat, not whatever's cheapest at the yard that week.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

You're covered if something goes wrong on the job, and we can show you proof of both before work starts.

Permits Handled

San Bernardino County requires permits for most raised decks, and we handle that paperwork so you don't have to chase it down.

Clean Job Sites

Deck demolition leaves nails and cut-offs scattered through the yard, and we clear it out before we call the job finished.

Written Quotes

The quote lists board type, footing count and railing style, so there's no guessing what you're actually paying for.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand the job off to a rotating set of subs. The people who dig the footings are the ones who set the rail.

Local to the Valley

UV and low humidity out here dry out sealant fast, and we build and finish every deck with that in mind.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

What homeowners want to know about who's doing the work.

How long have you been building decks?
Deck construction and repair is the sole focus of the work, not one service mixed in with general contracting. That focus keeps framing, flashing and railing code top of mind on every job instead of being relearned each time.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
One crew handles a deck from footings to final rail, rather than framing being subbed out separately from railing or staining. That continuity is a big part of why problems don't show up at the seams between trades.
Can I see examples of decks you've built?
Photos of completed deck projects, including framing shots taken before the decking went down, are available on request. Framing photos matter more than finished shots for judging what's underneath the surface.
Why hire a specialized deck builder instead of a general contractor?
A dedicated deck builder deals with joist spans, ledger flashing and railing code constantly, instead of occasionally between kitchen and bathroom remodels. That repetition tends to catch structural issues a generalist might miss.
Where is Elite Deck Solutions based?
Elite Deck Solutions is based in San Bernardino, CA, and covers the surrounding valley including Riverside, Fontana, Redlands and Rialto.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Booking two to three weeks out is typical for deck construction, longer during spring and early summer when deck season ramps up. Repair calls for a single issue like a soft board or loose rail usually get scheduled faster than a full rebuild.
Do you clean up the yard after a deck job?
Job sites are cleared of old decking, cut lumber and loose fasteners before a deck project is considered finished. Deck demolition in particular leaves nails scattered through the grass, and those get swept and magnet-checked before the crew leaves.
What happens if something gets damaged during the work?
Liability insurance covers property damage that happens during deck construction or repair, and proof of coverage is available before a contract is signed. Any damage gets reported and addressed directly rather than left for the homeowner to discover later.
Will you take over a deck another contractor started?
Unfinished or abandoned deck projects get taken on, though the existing framing gets inspected first to confirm it's sound before building on top of it. If the frame doesn't meet code, that gets addressed before the job continues rather than covered over.
How can I tell the deck work is being done properly?
Footings should be inspected before concrete is poured, and a permitted deck should pass a county inspection at the framing stage before decking goes down. Asking to see the footing depth and joist spacing before boards are installed is a reasonable request on any deck project.
